Film Review: After Earth

Earth has been destroyed by climate change and pollution and now humans exist in exile on other planets, but a space-flight with dad and son on board crashes on Earth, leaving the father, Will Smith, injured and the son, Jaden Smith, the only hope of ever returning home. With the promise of a great storyline the film did not live up to its expectations. The danger is shown throughout and therefore is not thought of much when a reaction is actually wanted. Although the action is there in movement, it is not in their faces, both Will and Jaden have the same expression throughout the movie, walking around with a face like a smacked bum. Although the movie is not one I'd recommend, I was strangely intrigued in finding out what happened and was drawn to the movie. I wouldn't watch it again, but I suppose it wasn't too bad. Acting could be improved, as could the themes and emotions used throughout.
